Online Card and a Cuppa – Abstract Art Birthday Card

Apr 15, 2020 | Birthdays, Card Ideas, KISS Kreative

Today I want to share with you one of the projects that I made on todays’s Online card and a cuppa. If you missed it you can watch the event here.

I go live with two projects every Monday and Wednesday at 11.00 am BST here so don’t forget to grab a cuppa and watch,

I have recently been playing with the beautiful pigment sprinkles. I have to confess that a couple of my trials didn’t really work as larger pieces so I came up with this card to salvage something from them

I took a piece of our Fluid 100 watercolour paper and washed over it with water using my aqua painter. I then added random splotches of Garden Green and Night of Navy ink, I then lightly tapped some of the Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight over the top and waited for the magic to happen.

I let the papers dry overnight but if you are in a hurry you can use your heat gun to speed up the process, Once dry I splattered some Frost White Shimmer Paint over the piece and let it dry again.

Once dry I die cut three squares using the smallest dies in the Layering Square Framelit set. If you don’t have these dies you could cut them using your trimmer. Once arranged in the pattern I wanted on a piece of Whisper White card (measuring 12.0cm x 12.0cm) I lightly drew around the squares and removed them. I then used a journaling pen to draw lines and frames. I then erased the pencil marks and adhered the squares using dimensionals. I finished off the project with a Happy birthday sentiment and mounted it on a piece of patterned paper from the Country Club (14.0cm x 14.0cm) and onto a card base of Garden Green cardstock measuring 29.0 cm by 14.5cm (scored at 14.5 cm and folded in half).

The plaid on the pattern really compliments all of the squares of the card. I am going to give this card to my Dad for his birthday to cheer him up whilst he is in isolation. I’m sure it will brighten his day.

On my Facebook live video I used another selection of my Pigments sample. This time selecting a section that had more of the yellows highlighted.

As you can see depending how you arrange the die cuts will dictate how the frames and lines work. I love that although the project is relatively simple each one is its own piece of art and totally unique!

I am going to send this card to Captain Tom Moore who is about to turn 100 years young and has been walking around his garden to raise money for the NHS. His amazing achievement and dedication to help other has been followed by thousands of people all over the world and money has been pouring in BBC As I write this post he has raised over £9.0m and steadily rising. To donate go here Go Tom!

After I finished my video I made another card in more feminine colours to send to a friend.

Voila!

I had great fun making these projects and I would love to know which one is your favourite? So please do leave me a comment.

I will be back Tomorrow with the other card made today. If you would like to join me next Monday then I will be going live on my Face Book page KISS Kreative – Sara Sayers at 11.00am BST so see you there!!!
