Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop and my Sea Turtle Birthday Card
Casually Crafting Design Team Blog Hop
The Casually Crafting Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world, gathered together to share our passion for creativity with you. Our focus is to bring you inspiration featuring projects that are easy to create while still packing a powerful creative punch. The projects are made with a few products, making them ideally suited to a beginner or casual crafter. From time-to-time, we may also include a project that is stepped-up for the added wow-factor
We will be sharing our ideas on the 3rd Saturday of each month and you can hop around the group and gather loads of inspiration. So grab yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, sit back & enjoy the hop!
Theme Challenge
This month we have a sketch challenge. Have you tried one? Its a great way to inspire your creativity.
The rules are easy. You can rotate the sketch and resize/shape the elements if you want to as long as the original sketch layout can still be recognized.
Sea Turtle
Today I am using the Pretty Sea Turtle Stamp set
This is a ‘Reversibles’ stamp set; it includes specialised photopolymer stamps that allow you to stamp with both sides of the stamp for greater versatility.
Sea Turtle Birthday Card
Using the sketch as show the three circles are represented by the two turtles and the sentiment
You can just imagine them heading down the beach for a nice cool swim!
The accents of Sweet Sorbet just give the whole image a real pop!
Did you know you can create heat embossed images in any colour?
Ink the images in Versamark and then Granny Apple Green ( or any colour you wish), before stamping onto a piece of Parakeet Party ( or any colour you desire)
Next add clear embossing powder over the card and heat set. It gives a lovely shiny finish & texture to the shell n this case, but allows you to customise your embossing to coordinate with your project.
The large turtle is stamped and embossed twice and just the shell of one of the images is added on top of a fussy cut image to create a more 3D effect.
To create the beach look on the central panel add Crumb Cake & Coastal Cabana Ink to a piece of Basic White card and then heat emboss the bubbles/surf image. I am really pleased with how it has come out
The sentiment is stamped in Night of navy Ink and punched out before adding to a loop of Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon
To accentuate the ocean look, add three sweet sorbet starfish & some Iridescent Pastel Gems
Voila!
I had great fun making this card. So, please do leave me a comment, letting me know what you think.
If you would like to know more about any of my projects please do get in contact and I would be happy to help you
So now it’s time to hop around the rest of the wonderful demonstrators blogs to see some more inspiration
