One of the reasons I love Stampin Up is that many of their stamp sets can be used all year round. Take the Clever Cat stamp set for instance? Although the set is designed around a Halloween theme I have been making lots of cards for so many different occasions by pairing the images with sentiment s form other stamp sets. This stamp set can be found in the Jul – Dec Mini Catalogue and is what it says on the label! The images are simple, witty and would appeal to Halloween, cats lovers and many more!
Clever Cat thank you cards
I wanted to make this months customer thank you cards using the gorgeous Blackberry Beauty Papers
It was a no brainer to chose this particular pattern for the cards because it reminds me of my old cat Minx who use to love sitting on the wall watching the birds fly round but at 18 years she was never going to ever catch one!
Keeping the colour palette simple by taking inspiration from the papers – Rich Razzleberry, Cinnamon Cider and Gold. Such a pretty combination.
Half of the cards have been made with a gold embossed cat and the other half stamping the cat in ink and then adding some Wink of Stella on top for some added sparkle! I just love both options, but know that certain customers will prefer one option over the other. I just love adding those more personal touches to me cards.
The inside is also kept very simple with an offcut and a simple embossed thanks to carry the theme through from the front
How to make these Clever Cat thank you cards
- Assemble the first two layers and add to the card with glue
- Take layer 3 and colour the paper with Rich Razzleberry Ink using a Blending Brush
- Once dry attach to the card with glue
- Heat emboss the sentiments in Gold and die cut using the Ornate Layers dies
- Attach to the card with Dimensionals
- EITHER stamp the cat in Cinnamon Cider Ink (with some Wink of Stella on top) OR Heat emboss in Gold. Fussy cat and add to the card using Dimensionals and glue
- Finish with some Gilded Gems
- Don’t forget to decorate the inside!

- Card Base: Rich Razzleberry – 29.7 cm by 10.5 cm score at 14.9 cm
- First Layer: Cinnamon Cider – 13.4 cm by 9.1 cm
- Second Layer: Blackberry Beauty DSP – 13.1 cm by 8.8 cm
- Third layer : Expressions of Ink DSP – 13.4 cm by 3.0 cm
- Sentiment: Rich Razzleberry – scrap 11.0 cm by 3.0 cm
- Image: Basic White Scrap
- Inner: Basic White 14.5 cm by 10.2 cm
