Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations Multicultural Day blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. Today we are celebrating our #stampingdiversity, by sharing a little something about ourselves that you might not have known. So here is my Neurodiversity Goat Joke Card…….. you are going to have to scroll down to find out what that means….. and the punchline

What is Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is a concept that’s been around for a while. In a nutshell, it means that brain differences are just that: differences. So conditions like ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia which make up ‘Neurodiversity’. aren’t “abnormal.” They’re simply variations of the human brain.

In fact, one in eight people are considered neurodiverse but fewer than 50 percent know it. Neurodivergents tend to be high energy, out of the box thinkers, excel in a crisis, and be bold problem solvers, but navigating the modern workplace & “real” world can be a challenge..

I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and Dyspraxia in my early twenties, when I was struggling to pass my Accounting exams. At that time there was little know about either conditions, let alone robust mechanisms to diagnose and support in schools and Universities.

Since my diagnosis, I have always tried to be open and honest with everyone I know and treat my difference with a light hearted touch. For example I always explain to work colleagues, that I became a Chartered Accountant because I found dealing with 10 digits much easier than 26 letters! That honesty has never hindered me in my career and by embracing and working with my strengths and differences, I have been able to attain a board level position in my industry. Now I offer mentoring to Neurodiverse young accountants via my professional body as a way of giving back.

Neurodiversity Goat Joke Card.

So I wanted to create a card that played a little light hearted fun on my innate ability to get words in a real muddle and totally not realise…. I had a look around on the internet and found a few good puns but this one really stood out and allowed me to use my as yet un-inked Way to Goat Stamp set.

The sentiments have been typed (and spell checked!) on the computer and printed on Basic White card.

The slim line card shape allowed me to mount each sentiment on a large circle of white card – Dyslexics need clear white backgrounds to help with reading, but for me gray is always easier to read than black. Go figure!

The dancing goat worked perfectly with this set and I created a 3D decoupage centre piece, using three layers of the image, colouring each one with Stampin’ Blends.

I finished with some of the wonderful Silver Epoxy essentials.
