Easy Strip Technique Cards- Hey Chick Blog Hop

Feb 5, 2021 | Blog Hop, Card Ideas, Sale-a-bration

Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. This month’s we have the launch of the Hey Chick and Birthday Chick bundles. I had a pile of long scraps so I thought I would have a play and try out the strip technique.

Hey Chicks

We have some wonderful new bundles which launched this week. There are two adorable Stamp sets with some stunning dies. Hey Chick & Hey Birthday Chick It took me ages to decide which one to get ……. so of course both dropped in my basket. Ooops

Strip Technique

If ever there was a technique that is easy to do, packs a punch and uses up your scraps then this ticks all the boxes

To start just grab a piece of scrap card in any colour, cover in glue and then just stick the strips down. You can stick the strips in any direction, I just love diagonals or offset. The strips I used varied between 1/2 and 1 cm. TIP: Make sure each strip butts up to the next one and once you have covered the whole piece, just trim the edges and you are done!

Colour Combo – Make it Bright!

I went through my strips and picked a bright combination of:

Strip Technique – Hey Chick

For my first card I used my Stitched Nested dies to cut three apertures into a piece of Basic White card and stamp the sentiment in Memento Ink.

Take a strip of the striped paper and emboss using the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing Folder. Attach to the card front using glue before attaching to a Basic Black base card. Stamp the chicken three times in Memento Black, colour with the coordinating Stampin Blends and fussy cut. How cute do they look with their crazy hair.

Strip Technique – Have a happy day

For my second card I used my Stitched Shape dies to cut a circle. Stamp the chicken in Memento Black Ink. Doesn’t it look so effective?

The Basic White card base is layered with Highland Heather and another piece of Whisper White which has been embossed using Pinewood Planks.

The sentiment is stamped onto one of the off cuts from the first card and then layered onto coordinating cardstock scraps.

A little flash of Magenta Madness Incolor ribbon just brings the scheme together.

Strip Technique – you’re a good egg!

Don’t ask me where I go the idea for this card. Have you ever seen acrobatic eggs? I guess they are not too good at it as they all have cracks!

Anyway, the base is Basic White, with a layer of Flirty Flamingo. Take another piece of Basic White and stamp the eggs. To make them pop mask the eggs and stamp above. Colour with Stampin Blends leaving a little highlight.

Add the strip at the bottom and this time emboss with the subtle embossing folder. It really makes the strips melt together. Finish with some ribbon and a faux knot.

Strip Technique – Hooray for you

For my final card I wanted to show the last chicken in the set and as I had run out of the original strip I decided to us some of the offcuts to create a vertical version.

The lovely curvy shape is from the Curvy dies and and sentiment is from the accompanying Quite Curvy Stamp set. Its so pretty!

Voila!

I so enjoyed making this card and I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
