Harvest Hellos – Back to school Blog Hop

Sep 7, 2020 | All Occasions, Card Ideas

Welcome to the Crafty Bloggers hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. Each month we will be showcasing some of the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. This month’s perfectly timed theme is Back to School. So I just had to reach for the gorgeous Harvest Hellos set again!

Going back to school this year is even more poignant this year with most children in the UK having been off school since March due to this dreadful Pandemic.

It’s been a tough time for everyone, but judging by all the smiling faces I have been seeing on the first day back at school photo’s on my social media feeds, most kids seem very excited happy to be seeing all their friends and teachers again!

So for my project I decided to use a real bright and contemporary colour combination

I just love the Harvest hellos set and just felt it really fit the brief for today as it has some cute teacher related sentiments.

Harvest Hellos – Simple Blackboard card

So, for my card, I pulled out my Cake Crumb card stock and created a standard card base. I cut a coordinating piece of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and created the aperture, using one of the Layering square dies.

To create the black board inset I took a piece of Basic Black card stock, which I swiped with some Whisper white ink to create a wiped chalky effect.

The sentiment, was embossed onto the card stock using white Stampin’ Emboss powder. I next attached the ‘blackboard’ behind the aperture before gluing the whole piece to the card base. To finish the card shape I simply used the same layering square die to create the ‘legs’ of the black board. So simple and really cute!

One of the things I love about the Harvest Hellos Stamp set is that there is a coordinating punch. Yay! Don’t punches make life so easy when you want a quick card? Using the Apple Builder Punch I created the apple in a piece of Poppy Parade.

Then added a Crumb cake stem and Granny Apple Green leaf (Well with a colour name like that I had to use it!

I used lots of banners to celebrate the return to school using lots of scrap pieces of card from the Bright colour family.

It adds some bright interest to the card and was so easy to make using the banner die from the aptly names Happy Dies
