We love showcasing some of the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. This month’s theme is Fun in the Sun and I am thrilled to share my Brighten your day sunflower card.

Sunflowers & Sunshine 🌻☀️

When I think of summer, I think of blue skies, warm sunshine, and my absolute favourite flower – sunflowers. They are like little bursts of joy standing tall in the fields, and I wanted to capture that same brightness on my card today.

For my project, I went all-in with sunny yellows and fresh greens. I started by taking a number of Crushed Curry scraps and some strips from the Floral Impressions DSP. Creating a cheerful background of diagonal strips, mixing patterned papers in sunflower prints, leafy greens, and bright yellow solids. The strips give a fun, sunbeam-like effect, perfect for our theme.

For added texture I used the gorgeous Sunflower 3D Embossing folder. My centrepiece is created by embossing one of the large sunflower images using the folder & then fussy cutting it out. This technique makes the petals almost leap off the card – you can see every little detail from the veins in the petals to the tiny bumps in the center.

The sentiment, “Just to brighten your day”, feels like exactly what sunflowers do naturally – they stand tall and spread happiness. I stamped the sentiment in a Garden Green ink to make it pop, but the sunflower remains the star of the show.

A little Daffodil Delight ribbon adds a soft finishing touch.

I love how this card captures the carefree, happy feeling of summer days – like a smile in paper form.

Just To Brighten Your Day Sunflower Card – Measurements

Base: Basic White – 25.4 cm by 17.7 cm scored at 12.7 cm to form a card (5″ x 7″)
First Layer: Basic white – 10.0 cm x 15.0 cm
Second Layer: Floral Impressions & Crushed curry cut into strips varying from 0.5 cm to 2.0 cm
Third Layer & Stamping: Basic White – 8.0 xm x 12.5 cm for die cutting
