Jul 19, 2024 | Birthdays, Blog Hop, Colouring, Step by step, Techniques

Hello there Crafty friends. Welcome to this month’s Stamp Impressions Europe Blog Hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around Europe and we will be sharing some wonderful ideas based around a monthly theme. This month we have a wonderful challenge to share projects with water colour incorporated & I am very excited to share a gorgeous technique that I was recently reminded of creating a watercolour background with embossing folders

Seaside Wishes

I adore this bundle! Do you know why? Well it may have something to do with the fact that its based on the sea OR could it be that the bundle includes a hybrid embossing folder along with the coordinating dies. I will let you decide which or if both apply !

I have been having lots of fun with this bundle so expect to see lots of ideas over the coming weeks!

Have you ever added ink to the inside of your embossing folders? Yes, its a little bit messy, but boy does it add add impact!

Now this technique goes a couple of steps further and I have to say despite the fact that it gets a whole lot more messy I love it!

This card is made from Basic White card an some water colour paper with a small scrap of coloured card for a little pops so you don’t need to have all the colours!! but it does help

All the basic White die cuts are from the Seaside Wishes and Beauty of the Deep bundles and have either been stamped or coloured with a blending brush to create this beautiful reef scene. You can really go to town with the details and layering or pare it right back for a more simple look.

Mine is definitely the more is more approach and reminds me of a trip where we were lucky enough to to snorkel off the Whitsunday Islands

Create A watercolour background with embossing folders

  • Take your embossing folder and lightly ink the side you wish to use (Bottom deboss, top emboss) in Summer Splash Ink
  • Spray with a little water using a Stampin Spritzer (just a little)
  • Add the watercolour card to the folder and emboss as usual
  • Remove from the folder and dry the paper with a heat gun
  • TIP: turn over the card every few seconds to help the card dry flat
  • Add some splatters using Stampin Blends (here I used Night of Navy & Summer Splash))
  • Adhere to the card base using Multipurpose glue
  • Decorate

Don’t have the Stylish shapes, Then any medium sized shaped die would.

I think you might agree, this card is simple yet stunning!

Voila!

I so enjoyed making this card and I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
