Creativity Abounds Blog Hop
This month we are creating Masculine projects and I am sharing a card using the fabulous Fun on Wheels Bundle.
I have absolutely loved playing with this Bundle and you can see some projects ideas on my recent Facebook Lives HERE. Look for numbers 299 & 300
Fun On Wheels Sepia Card
I do love making gender neutral cards with bright bold and clashing colours. But when it comes to following a Masculine theme I always feel like I hit a wall. Do you feel the same?
Luckily one of the tricks I always use is a monochromatic scheme and using sepia tones is top of the list!
The card is designed to be simple, but capture those childhood modes of transport in a timeless way.
This idea has been siting in my head for a while, & thankfully it pretty much stayed true to my first concept. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?
The colour scheme is inspired by the lovely Earthen Elegance DSP. The designs are all taken from tiles but I thought this particular one looked like lots of tyre tracks!
The soft tones are created by inking each image up in Copper Clay Ink. Next add darker lowlights using Early Espresso Ink & a sponge dauber,. Finally stamp straight onto a piece of Very Vanilla Card.
TIP:
Add some gentle highlights by sprinkling a few grains of Copper Embossing powder over the images and then heat set. It really is less is more exercise so there are just the merest hints of copper
Al the images have corresponding dies – Hurrah!!! Once the images are ‘released’ then use a sponge dauber to add a little copper clay in around the edges
The Copper Clay Textured Ribbon is tied in a knot for a more rustic feel. The sentiment is cut cut using the Deckled Edged Dies
To finish the card add some Copper Clay In-Color Dots. Men do like embellishments too!
For the inside I used the side image of the bicycle and stamped it multiple times in Ealy Espresso Ink to give a sense of movement
The sentiment is given the same treatment but this time to ensure the words stay legible, each sentiment is stepped a little down and back like a little printed echo or shadow…………
Voila!
