How To Create A Blossom Miss You Card – Casually Crafting Blog Hop

Apr 15, 2023 | All Occasions, Blog Hop, Step by step

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop and my Blossom Miss You Card.

Casually Crafting Design Team Blog Hop

The Casually Crafting Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world, gathered together to share our passion for creativity with you. Our focus is to bring you inspiration featuring projects that are easy to create while still packing a powerful creative punch. The projects are made with a few products, making them ideally suited to a beginner or casual crafter. From time-to-time, we may also include a project that is stepped-up for the added wow-factor

We will be sharing our ideas on the 3rd Saturday of each month and you can hop around the group and gather loads of inspiration. So grab yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, sit back & enjoy the hop!

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

This month we have a Tic Tac Toe challenge. Have you tried one? Pick a line horizontally, vertically or diagonally and use those elements to make your project. Don’t worry you can use other products, but these challenges are great for kickstarting a crafting session.

I chose to use the diagonal top left to bottom right : Twine – Neutral – Flower & I can’t wait to see what the other designers have chosen.

PETAL Park

Today I am using the wonderful Petal Park Punch Bundle

The pretty floral images are two step stamping and with a coordinating punch in the bundle, make card making a doddle.

Blossom Miss You Card

I just love this time of year. The days are getting longer and spring is truly underway. We are very fortunate to live in an area where we have many trees which bear beautiful blossom and I like to think we give Japan a little bit of competition!

My card was heavily inspired by a recent trip to RHS Wisley with my lovely crafty friends, Jay & Barry from Mitosu Crafts.

We try to visit around this time every year to see the delicate cherry blossoms…… so pretty

This card uses a number of retiring products from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. Some items are discounted by up to 60%, so grab anything you want as the items will only be available whilst stocks last!

The sentiment (from the retiring Honeybee home) has been stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in white on the base of the card. Next stamp the sentiment over the base card in Versamark ink, but this time set aside dry for a few minutes. This creates a lovely subtle watermark effect

Next stamp the leaf outline in Evening Evergreen Ink (retiring) and ‘infill’ with the coordinating stamp in Granny Apple Green Ink on a piece of Shimmery White Card (retiring)

The floral stamp lines up inside the leaves and looks like the image was stamped together (clever eh?)

This time stamp the outline in Flirty Flamingo and the inside in a second generation stamping of the same ink ( ie stamp the inked image on a scrap of paper before stamping inside the floral outline for a lighter effect.

Fill any spaces with the flowers and a small single leaf.

Use the alternative partial die cutting technique below

Finish the card with a linen thread bow and some Champagne Rhinestones (retiring)

Partial Die Cutting Alternative!

There is a lovely technique called partial die cutting, which requires the use of a die cutting machine and coordinating dies for the image you are stamping

So what do you do when the image you are using doesn’t have coordinating dies or you don’t own a die cutting machine?

Well the answer is much simpler than you would think:

  • Stamp you image and colour
  • Take a ruler and a pencil and trace a fain line where you would like to remove the paper
  • Use snips to cut away the excess paper
  • Use a soft rubber to remove any remaining pencil lines
  • Mount onto a contrasting card base
  • Yay, you are done!

TIP: Colour around the images with a Stampin’ Blend that coordinating with the back ground paper (in this case Evening Evergreen) to remove any white card showing and spoiling the illusion.

Voila!

I had great fun making this card. So, please do leave me a comment, letting me know what you think.

If you would like to know more about any of my projects please do get in contact and I would be happy to help you

So now it’s time to hop around the rest of the wonderful demonstrators blogs to see some more inspiration
