We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. Today we are sharing some cards to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and I am very pleased to share my Rosh Hashanah Cards
What is Rosh Hashanah?
Today is the start of Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Jewish New Year, which marks the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days. The millennia-old holiday is an occasion for reflection and is often marked by prayer, symbolic foods, and the blowing of a traditional horn called a shofar
“Rosh Hashanah” means “head of the year” in Hebrew, and the two-day holiday is considered a time to reflect and repent in anticipation of the coming year.
The holiday is often celebrated with special foods, like apples dipped in honey, which symbolize the hope of a sweet year to come.
Challah bread, baked in round loaves instead of braids and dipped in honey, is also popular. So are pomegranate seeds and the head of a ram or fish — to symbolize the “head” of the new year
Rosh Hashanah Cards
I chose to use the recently retired Perfect Pomegranate Stamp Set, but you could substitute the image for apples, honey or fish.
The background has been created with some Fluid 100 Watercolor card, coloured with So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler & Merry Merlot inks and set aside to dry.
Once dry the images were stamped using a Stamparatus and Cherry Cobbler and Merry Merlot ink
The sentiment has been created using the wonderful Alphabest Bundle. It’s perfect for creating custom sentiments and personalised messages!
Measurement for this card
- Base: Thick Basic White – 29.7 cm x 10.5 cm Score at 14.8 cm
- First Layer: So Saffron – 13.3 cm by 9.0 cm
- Second Layer: Merry Merlot– 13.0 cm by 8.7 cm
- Third Layer: Fluid 100 Water color card – 12.7 cm by 8.4 cm
- Sentiment: So Saffron- scrap
