How to Make a Whimsical Trees Kraft Christmas Card – Casually Crafting Blog Hop

Sep 18, 2021 | Blog Hop, Christmas, Sale-a-bration

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop! and my Whimsical Trees Kraft Christmas Card.

Casually Crafting Design Team Blog Hop

The Casually Crafting Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world, gathered together to share our passion for creativity with you. Our focus is to bring you inspiration featuring projects that are easy to create while still packing a powerful creative punch. The projects are made with a few products, making them ideally suited to a beginner or casual crafter. From time-to-time, we may also include a project that is stepped-up for the added wow-factor

We will be sharing our ideas on the 3rd Saturday of each month and you can hop around the group and gather loads of inspiration. So grab yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, sit back & enjoy the hop!

Tic Tac Toe Challenge

This month we have a Tic Tac Toe challenge. Have you tried one? Pick a line horizontally, vertically or diagonally and use those elements to make your project. Don’t worry you can use other products, but these challenges are great for kickstarting your crafting session.

So I chose to use the left three boxes:

  • Christmas
  • Foliage
  • Green

However I realised it would also fit the criteria for the top row – Christmas/layers/ Embossing & the right hand vertical column – Embossing /Celebration/Metallic. What can I say, I liked this board!!

Whimsical Trees

Today I am using the Whimsical Trees Stamp set.

It’s from a suite called Whimsy and Wonder and it’s really cute – pretty non traditional colours and a fun take on Christmas.

I have been using it to make lots of projects this week. Some for a blog post, which you can see here and the rest for this weekends Stamp Camp, my next two Facebook Lives and next weekends TNT Online craft retreat. It really is a fun suite and has been so popular.

Whimsical Trees Kraft Christmas Card

Now when I make my Christmas Cards they will fall into three levels:

  • Family and close friends will receive a more intricate card that I have made with them in mind
  • Intermediate cards will be for my general card sending and will be quite simple but involve some technique
  • Simple Grab and go’s – No matter how often I write and audit my Christmas card list I always miss someone so I always have a handy stash of cards and If I don’t use them I donate them to a local charity the following Christmas.

Today’s card is somewhere in the middle option as you can see.

Did you know that Kraft card is a wonderful medium to stamp on? You get a lovely rustic look and works with both Traditional and more contemporary colours.

It’s a more traditional version of this card I posted earlier in the week.

How to Make a Whimsical Trees Kraft Christmas Card

  • Take the Layer 2 piece of Kraft and stamp the tree in Garden Green
  • TIP: vary the heights of each tree to give a more natural look
  • Add another layer of trees in Shaded Spruce Ink, just below the first layer to fill some of the spaces
  • Finally add another row of trees in Evening Evergreen
  • Blend a little Sahara Sand Ink around the edges of to card to create a vignette
  • Set the ink with your heat gun or leave to dry for a few minutes.
  • Heat emboss the snowflakes in Gold
  • Take the Fourth Layer (Kraft) and heat emboss the sentiment in Gold
  • Attach to the third Layer
  • Wrap some Gold twine around and tie in a bow then attach to the base card
  • Finish with some Wonderful Gems
