Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. This month we are looking at different techniques for using your inks. There are quite a few different techniques which I am sure you will discover today. I chose to create some super simple water coloured sunset cards
Techniques with Ink?
Our inks come in three versions: Classic ink pads, Mini Ink pads (limited colours in out kits) and re-inkers. You can also create your own mini ink pad using one of our un-inked spots and a re-inker colour of your choice. I have a set of all the colours which I use when I am crafting away from home. I love them
Because our inks are in the various formats they lend themselves to lots of different techniques apart from stamping images. Today I am using our inks to create a colour wash but you can find some more ideas HERE
Quiet Meadow Bundle
The Quiet Meadow bundle is amazing! When I first saw it in the new 2021 -22 Annual catalogue, I knew it would be a great addition to my stash.
How to create the colour wash for the Water Coloured Sunset Cards
It’s so easy to create a colour wash, when you use watercolour card, namely our wonderful Fluid 100 paper
I spritzed over the card with water then used the widest water painted to add stripes of ink. You can either use some drops of re-inker (for a bold look) or pick up some ink from an Ink pad and use. Make sure to blend each colour as you go to create a pretty graduated sunset.
TIP: Don’t pick up ink directly from the pad using the water painter as it will introduce a little water and effect the ink pads performance.
What colours can you use to create your Water Coloured Sunset Cards?
Well the sky is the limit – sorry – dreadful pun!
For the sample in the previous photo, I used: Gorgeous Grape, Magenta Madness, Poppy Parade & Pumpkin Pie
The first sample above uses: Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo & Gorgeous Grape
The second sample above uses: Misty Moonlight Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia & Polished Pink
I love how each one looks quite different.
finish your Water Coloured Sunset Cards
This card is one we made in from a recent Quiet Meadow class class. I went for a full on silhouette effect to contract with the strong bold colours, by adding some Basic Black die cut flowers.
Wrap some Glittered Organdy Ribbon around the from of the card, & add a faux knot. Before adding to the layered card front.
The sentiment is stamped in Black Memento Ink and punched out before being added to the card with Dimensionals
To finish I added some retired Butterfly embellishments which have been coloured with a Basic Black Stampin’ Blend, but you could easily substitute for Matte Black dots.
Water Coloured Sunset Cards – Alternative
By changing the colours and the flowers you can really alter the mood of the card. I was inspired by a twilight view in my garden a few weeks ago where everything took on a blueish hue due to the soft colours of the sunset.
By creating a much softer feel to the card, I decided to swap out the die cut card stock for Misty Moonlight and the ribbon for Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon.
Voila!
I so enjoyed making these cards and I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
If you would like to know more about any of my projects please do get in contact and I would be happy to help you
