Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations Pride blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. Today we are celebrating Pride, and I thought it would be fun to create a Love is Love Gift Box filled with Pride Edition Sweeties.
When Is Pride Month?
Whilst much of Pride is for celebratory purposes, the occasion also marks an important historic background, and can be used to educate.
28th June 1969 saw the raid of Stonewall Inn, a gay club in Greenwich Village. Following this, protests lasting over six days demanded that the LGBTQ+ community were given a space to be open and safe surrounding their sexuality.
Many credit the Stonewall riots as an event that allowed the LGBTQ+ community to possess as many rights as they do today. The first Pride march happened in 1970 in New York, to mark the one year anniversary of the riots. Within a few years marches were being
With many Pride events cancelled last year, in-person celebrations for 2021 have been bigger and bolder – though, social distancing was still observed.
However, many events are spanning over the summer, including July and August, due to Coronavirus restrictions. So we are also celebrating over the same period
Beauty of the Earth paper – DSP sale
I chose to use the stunning Beauty of the Earth for the base of my project. Its stunning soft watercolour images depict flora, fauna and skies and make fabulous backgrounds and main focus pieces depending on the image you chose.
Even better you can save 15% on this design and many of our other popular packs until 2nd August. So do hurry and grab your favourites right now.
Love is Love Gift Box
I found a bag of limited Pride edition sweets in my local supermarket and used this as my inspiration for my pretty gift box.
The base box is one of our fabulous mini paper pumpkin boxes. So no cutting of gluing, just a simple assembly.
The pretty sky wrap is a 14.0 cm piece of Beauty of the Earth 12″ x 12″ Designer Series paper secured as you would a belly band so it just slides off. The rainbow is created by cutting 6 frames in the Pride rainbow colours using the layering circles.
Just cut in half and glue down onto the DSP
The sentiment has been stamped twice and is from the pretty Lovely You Stamp Set. It has been trimmed down to create the ‘Love is Love’
To finish add some dies cut clouds from the wonderful Give it a Whirl Die set & add the sentiments.
Voila!
I so enjoyed making this projectand I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
If you would like to know more about any of my projects please do get in contact and I would be happy to help you
So now it’s time to hop around the rest of the wonderful demonstrators blogs to see some more inspiration.
