Simply To the Moon EID Card – EID MUBARACK Blog Hop

May 11, 2021 | Birthdays, Colouring

Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations Eid Mubarack blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. Today we are celebrating the start of Eid-a-Fitr and I have chosen to make a simply to the Moon EID Card

What is Eid-a-Fitr?

Eid al-Fitr is known as the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast’ and, unsurprisingly given the name, celebrates the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan. Eid is also referred to as the Sugar Feast, a nod to the fact that a large constituent part of the meal one eats at the festival is desserts.

After the personal test and endurance of Ramadan, followers of the Islamic faith celebrate with their friends and family – and the 2021 celebrations are bound to be more important than ever as many families were separated due to coronavirus restrictions for Eid 2020.

My parent spent many years living in Saudi Arabia so we were privileged to be invited to celebrate with a number of families . The eating of dates is a very important part of both Ramadan and Eid, as they are a popular snack eaten at the pre-dawn meal before the fast (called the Suhoor). In Saudi Arabia though, they are of particular significance – lots of people will bake Kleichas, which are rose-flavoured biscuits that contain a filling of nuts and dates.

So this year I am making cards and gifts of sweet treats to give to my friends. Sadly, I can’t make the delightful Kleichas so I am making some Pistachio & Rose Shortbread to include in my gifts this year.

Simply To the Moon EID Card

I just love the vibrant colours & shapes of middle eastern architecture and when I saw the new Simply Elegant Speciality DSP I knew this would make the perfect base to my card.

Taking centre stage is the crescent moon from the To The Moon Stamp Set. I love to use stamp sets in different ways than perhaps they were intended.

how to make a Simply To the Moon EID Card

  • Create card base score & burnish at 10.0 cm
  • Add Layer 1 Gold Foil using glue
  • Add Misty Moonlight Ink the the DSP using a blending Brush (Layer 2)
  • Heat emboss the Moon and stars in Gold onto the piece of Misty Moonlight Card( layer 5)
  • Layer onto the piece of gold foil (layer 4)
  • Attach to the base card using Dimensionals
  • Cut the words using the scrap gold foil (layer onto the adhesive foam sheets first to make adding to the card easier
  • Write the sentiment with an old Blender pen dipped in Versamark In-inker & Heat Emboss

EID MuBarak SWEET TREAT BoX

How cute is this little gift box?

You won’t believe how easy this was to make using the new Simply Classic Treat Boxes

Simply assemble to box and add a strip of the DSP, which has been coloured with Misty Moonlight Ink using a Blending Brush.

So simple! Plus the boxes are food safe so no need to use additional packaging. Yay!

Voila!
