How to make a lace Die cut background with Butterfly Brilliance

Apr 5, 2021 | Blog Hop, Card Ideas, Colouring, Step by step, Thank you

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog today! I’m so happy to be sharing my card and to show you you a lovely technique for a lace die cut background of butterflies

I’m participating in Kylie’s monthly International Blog Highlights contest and the top 10 vote winners get to participate in an International Blog Hop. I would be so grateful if you could consider taking a moment and voting for my card? I’d really appreciate it!

How Do I Vote?

Click on the button below you. Please look for my card (It’s number 31) and click on the little heart sign on the right-hand top side of my photo. Once you’ve touched the little clear heart it will turn to Red Color and will confirm that you voted. You can vote up to five times, but it’s not required, you can also just vote for one. Thanks so much, I truly appreciate your support!

This card looks really complicated, but it’s much simpler than you would think. It’s from my recent KISS Class and the attendees loved it, so I thought I would make some more to send to customers.

I don’t know about you, but I find colouring in just so relaxing and this stamp set is so easy to colour.

Now when it comes to colouring butterflies you can really go to town. Pretty much anything goes!

I took my colour scheme from the spring Daffodils in the garden – Yellow and Orange

Because there was quite a bit of white space I thought it would be fun to add some lace details. You can see how I made it below.

Measurements

  • Base: Thick Whisper White – 29.7 cm by 10.5 cm scored at 14.9 cm to form the base card.
  • First Layer: Basic Black – 14.5 cm by 10.2 cm
  • Second Layer: Daffodil Delight – 14.2 cm by 9.9 cm
  • Third Layer: Basic White – 13.9 cm by 9.6 cm
  • Fourth Layer (Butterflies): Basic White – 21.0 cm by 12.0 cm
  • Fifth Layer: Basic Black – 10.0 cm by 7.0 cm
  • Image: Basic white- 10.0 cm by 7.0 cm
  • Sentiment: Back Black – scrap

How To make the card with a lace die cut background of butterflies

  • Attach the Fourth layer of Basic White to an adhesive sheet
  • Die cut 6 different detailed butterflies in the White card
  • Attach to the Third Layer in a random pattern filling as much space as possible.
  • Trim off the excess wings and use to fill any gaps on the edges.
  • Make sure everything is stuck down and assemble Layers 1 to 3
  • Die cut the Oval from the Flowering Vine Designs (TIP: You could also add the adhesive sheet to the Basic Black card before cutting to help with sticking to the card)
  • Add to the card base
  • Stamp the largest Butterfly image in Memento Black Ink, Die cut
  • Colour the image with Stampin Blends in Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight & So Saffron
  • Add the butterfly to the card using glue on the abdomen and Dimensionals on the wings.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment in White Stampin’ Emboss powder on the scrap of Basic Black
  • Trim down to a skinny border and attach to the butterfly with glue.

Voila!
