Welcome to the Crafty Collaborations blog hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. We love showcasing the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. This month’s technique theme is RIBBON and who doesn’t have a stash sitting n a drawer all ready to use? I thought it would be fun to use the Heated Ribbon Technique to make an underwater scene
Heated Ribbon Technique
Now hands up, Who has quite a few half used spools of ribbon in your stash? Yep me too!!! So here is a great technique to make your ribbon into a feature for a fun card
Now quite a few ribbons change their shape when they are heated. Its worth trying a small sample first
Take your heat gun and a wooden skewer or long pair of tweezers and gently heat the ribbon. After a few seconds the ribbon will start to twist and turn and change texture. I find many of the sheer ribbons will give you a really interesting result
Another option is to cut the ribbon in half down the middle which once heated creates these wonderful tendril style fronds which is where the inspiration for this card came from. I used the Blackberry Bliss Striped ribbon as my starting point and then built the card around it!
Heated Ribbon Technique Underwater Cards
I just love the Whale of a Time DSP and the imagery take all the leg work out of creating fun underwater scenes.
The Jelly fish are made using the Ice cream builder punch and the Blending brushes – I love the builder punches – They are perfect for lots of different punch art.
Just punch out the Ice-cream shape and use the Bending brushes to add Blackberry Bliss to the shapes, building up the colour at the edges and adding just a little to the centres.
Next use one of the sprinkles stamps from the Sweet Ice-cream Stamp Set to add the spots. Stamp multiple times from just one inking to create the different intensity of the ink
To finish the face draw a mouth and add a pair of googly eyes to each jelly fish. Not anatomically correct, but they do look so cute
Attach the tentacles using tear tape, trim to the correct length then attach to the front of the card using Dimensionals.
The sentiment is from the High Tide Stamp set and die cut using one of the labels from the Hippo and Friends Set.
To finish add some of the Whale of a time sequins – perfect little bubbles.
