How To Colour Succulent Stamps With Stampin’ Blends

Mar 8, 2021 | Blog Hop, Card Ideas, Colouring, Step by step, Thank you

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog today! I’m so happy to be sharing my card and to show you how to colour the Succulent Stamps with our wonderful Stampin Blends.

I’m participating in Kylie’s monthly International Blog Highlights contest and the top 10 vote winners get to participate in an International Blog Hop. I would be so grateful if you could consider taking a moment and voting for my card? I’d really appreciate it!

How Do I Vote?

Click on the button below you. Please look for my card (It’s number 4) and click on the little heart sign on the right-hand top side of my photo. Once you’ve touched the little clear heart it will turn to Red Color and that confirms that you voted. You can vote for up to five, but it’s not required, you can also just vote for one. Thanks so much, I truly appreciate your support!

This card looks really complicated, but it’s much simpler than you would think.

I don’t know about you, but I find colouring in just so relaxing and with a little practice this stamp set you won’t believe how easy it is to colour.

Now when it comes to colouring succulents, you can really go to town. Pretty much anything goes! Red, Pink, Orange, yellow, blue, purple, brown. It really doesn’t matter what colours you chose. Anything goes!

I grabbed some scraps, googled some images and had a little play with my blends and this is what I came up with.

So what do you think? I will make this into a template if anyone is interested

Simply Succulent Thanks Card

I just love the Simple Succulents bundle, the images are just perfect for colouring and the coordinating dies are just so pretty.

Keeping the card quite simple allows the coloured image to really take centre stage.

The base card is Sahara Sand with a layer of Old Olive attached with Dimensionals.

For the next layer take a piece of Basic White and emboss using the Painted Texture 3DEF.

Take a selection of the blends you are planning to use for the image and flick the nib gently against the inside of the lid to create some pretty coloured splatters onto the base card.

Take three lengths of linen twine wrap around the card& tie in a bow, before attaching to the card with glue.

Stamp the large succulent image, the smaller single succulent and the bucket onto a piece of Basic white, using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then die Cut.

How To Colour Succulent Stamps With Stampin’ Blends

Colour the succulents using which ever colour combination you chose. Working clockwise from the top I used:

  • Seaside Spray/Purple Posy
  • Granny Apple Green/So Saffron
  • Pumpkin Pie/ Rick Razzleberry
  • Mint Macaron/Calypso Coral

Start by adding the lightest/accent colour to the tip of each succulent then add the shadows to the centres of each leaf. Lastly blend the darkest shade out with the corresponding Light Stampin Blend to even out the colour. If you are new to using the Stamping Blends this is a perfect stamp set to start with as the images are so forgiving.

To colour the bucket add the darkest shade of Gray Granite to the sides of the pail and then blend the colour out towards the centre using the lighter colour. Try to leave the centre as pale as possible to create a 3D effect. Then add dots of Cinnamon Cider and Calypso Coral to look like rust. Finally add a little Wink of Stella to accent the highlighted areas.

Assemble the Coloured Succulent Stamps card

Glue the Bucket to the base card with glue. Add the large succulents with Dimensionals, then tuck the smaller succulent in to balance the arrangement.

Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Old Olive Card and then die cut using the large stitched label from the set.Add to the card with dimensionals.

Finish off the card with some Metallic pearls.

Measurements

  • Base: Sahara Sand– 29.7 cm by 10.5 cm scored at 14.9 cm to form the base card.
  • First Layer: Old Olive – 14.9 cm by 9.0 cm
  • Second Layer: Basic White – 14.9 cm by 8.5 cm
  • Images: Basic white- 14.9 cm by 10.5 cm
