Happy Tuesday, Crafty Friends. I’m so excited to share the Fun Fiesta Cards using Darling Donkey that I made on my Facebook Live yesterday. PLUS a bonus card that I just had to make afterwards. Woo Hoo!
Don’t forget that you can watch the Live anytime on catch up ! Grab a cuppa, click HERE to see it!
The donkeys really are darling and the best bit is that it’s FREE during Sale-a-bration. But did you know that you will only be able to get this stamp set for the next 6 days. Yes, Sale-a-bration is just two months this time (sad face), However there will be another one later this year with more beautiful FREE products with a qualifying order. Woo hoo!
Darling Donkeys
How adorable are these donkeys? I just love them.
Each time I looked at them they appear so joyful and ready to party so I just had to make it happen on my Facebook Live this week! With Lockdown meaning we have been unable to holiday abroad in the last 12 months I thought we would transport ourselves to Mexico for some fiesta time!
Darling Donkey Fun Fiesta Cards – Piñata Donkey
No Mexican fiesta is complete without a pinata! So I had to have a go at transforming my little donkey into a fun bright tissue paper covered hanging burro.
The donkey has been coloured with Stampin Blends to represent the layers of brightly coloured tissue paper that usually covers the paper Mache shape. Its a great technique for kids as there is no blending or any need to be very precise. My kind of colouring!
Once fussy cut I arranged it onto a piece of whisper white which had been stamped with the three little star images. The banners are from the Stitched Triangle dies and are the perfect way to use up your scraps
Darling Donkey Fun Fiesta Cards – Flowering Cactus Donkey
For my next card I dug out the beautiful Flowering cactus Medley Kit
The medley contains a stamp set, dies, patterned paper, linen thread and some cute die cut felt flowers. Ever better purchase this medley by the 28th February and you could include the Darlin Donkeys for FREE!
I used the Blending brushes to create a soft background to bring the colour scheme together. The donkey and the sentiment are the only images which been stamped the other images are all from the papers cut out with the coordinating dies!
Doesn’t he look so cute sitting in the shade of those lovely cactus. Straight from a scene of a spaghetti western LOL!
Darling Donkey Fun Fiesta Cards – Bonus Balancing Donkeys
You can’t have a fiesta without a little entertainment and I made this card after my live just to show the different colouring options for the donkeys.
On the top I used Soft Suede Stampin Blends, Middle is Crumb Cake and bottom is Gray Granite showing that you have plenty of options available to colour this little cuties.
Rather than mask and stamp the images I stamped and coloured them on a separate piece of basic white and then fussy cut them. This allowed my to carefully remove the head on the middle donkey and move it round to a more natural position!! Well that’s if balancing on top of another donkey is natural LOL! I have to say it was my first donkey surgery and I think it turned out rather well…..
Voila!
Which one is your favourite?
I so enjoyed making these cards and I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
