Masculine Blog Hop – Make easy cards using High Tide

Nov 5, 2020 | Card Ideas, Male, Men & Boys card ideas

Welcome to the Crafty Bloggers hop. I am part of an amazing group of demonstrators from all around the world. Each month we will be showcasing some of the wonderful products which can found in our suite of catalogues. Today we are hopping using with the theme of Masculine and I chose the High Tide stamp set.

I find that cards for men quite tricky, but with the High Tide Stamp Set its a cinch to make easy Masculine cards. There are so many options and great sentiments for all occasions.

For my projects I decided to use quite a pared down colour combination compared to me usual bright zingy colour schemes.

I decided to keep the projects relatively simple with an Early Espresso base and just add touches of colour.

Simple Stamping with High Tide

So, for my card, I pulled out my Early Espresso card stock and created a card base. I created a water colour base on a piece of Shimmery White card stock using my Water Painters and Spritzers.

Once the card had dried I stamped the lighthouse, Sand, grass and sentiment in Early Espresso. To get the lovely shading on the lighthouse I stamped of the main body of the lighthouse on a piece of scrap paper before stamping so the more detailed second layer really showed up. If you find lining up the light house tricky you could use the wonderful Stamparatus, but because the stamp is photopolymer I found it really easy to stamp my layers without.

Finally I mounted the card onto a piece of Poppy Parade card stock before mounting it onto the card base. Super Simple

Measurements

  • Base: Early Espresso – 29.7 cm by 10.5 cm scored at 14.9 cm
  • Matt: Poppy Parade – 14.3 cm by 10.0 cm
  • Layer 2 : Shimmery White 14.0 cm by 9.7 cm

Sepia Card with High Tide

For my second project I decided to try and night scene using just one ink pad. Yep this card is made with just one colour – Early Espresso.

I started off by taking a post it note and punching out a circle using the 1 1/2″ circle punch and stuck it to the card to create a large moon. Taking a piece of scrap paper I then lined it up to create a horizon. Using my daubers and Early Espresso Ink I created a horizon line and then removed the paper and sponged all around the edges using the dauber.

For the sky I took the sponging in a little further to ensure I went around the Post It note moon, which I then removed. I then used the edge of the dauber to create wisps of cloud across the sky and the moon to create more of an atmosphere.

Next I stamped the two step lighthouse as above and then created a mask to cover the lighthouse

Finally I stamped the rocks, sea, and sentiment. I love how the sea looks like the moon is shining all peacefully across the calm sea.

Measurements

  • Base: Early Espresso – 29.7 cm by 10.5 cm scored at 14.9 cm
  • Matt: Shimmery White- 14.3 cm by 10.0 cm
  • Layer 2 : Shimmery White 14.0 cm by 9.7 cm

Aperture birthday card using the High Tide Stamp set

For my final card I decided to create a more layered card.

I took another piece of Shimmery White card stock and this time used my daubers to create a pretty sunset

Next I stamped the light house and part of the birds to create a central focus.

Using some Soft Suede layers and the layering ovals I cut out some apertures which neatly lay over each other to create a framed effect. For extra impact I embossed the top layer with the Pinewood Planks TEIF. Wow! I love the effect it creates.

Before adhering the layers to the card with Dimensionals, I added some of the Faux Suede Trim and an Antique Slide.

Finally I added a simple sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set ( such a useful set) with a tiny scrap of the Trimming the town DSP to add a final pop of colour.

Voila!

I had great fun making these cards and I would love to know what you think? Please do leave me a comment.
