Today I want to share with you the projects that I made on today’s Online card and a cuppa. If you missed it you can watch the event here.
I go live with two projects every Monday and Wednesday at 11.00 am BST I would love you to join me so don’t forget to like my page and tune in next week. You can find me here
How are you spending your time during these times of social distancing and isolation? Rather than hang around in my PJ’s all day (not that I ever have!) I have tried to maintain my normal routine of work, exercising and relaxing. However as I’m not one to spend all my evenings in front of the TV and with missing socialising with my friends I have been organising a weekly quiz and other social get together’s via Zoom or Facebook. At a quiz a couple of weeks ago one of the questions was ‘Which film was filmed in black and white with the exception of one little gill who was wearing what colour coat’. I did know the answer, but the reason for this story was it inspired me to make these cards and got me thinking about how I usually find inspiration for my cards and how was that different during these challenging times?
Like many people I see pictures on social media, but I often get inspired by everyday objects, materials, clothing, wallpaper a piece of art and all those opportunities are not so easy to come by right now.
So as I was saying the quiz question got me thinking about colour combinations and this was the basis of my live card making session.
Quite different to my previous rainbow cards here. For my first card I settled on this beautiful background stamp Breathtaking Bouquet which has not been given the inking it deserves due to all the other wonderful products in the Jan-Jun mini catalogue.
Breathtaking Bouquet Spotlight card
oThe base is a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock. I then took a piece of Poppy Parade card measuring 13.8cm by 9.5cm & piece of Basic black card stock measuring 12.8cm by 8.5 cm and adhered them to the front of the card.
The front piece was made using a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 12.5cm by 8.2cm . I stamped the image using my Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to ensure I had a good image.
Using one of the layering circle dies I cut an aperture and set the circle aside and coloured the rest of the image with a mixture of Dark and Light Basic Black and Smoky slate blends. For the circle I used the Dark & Light Poppy Parade blends and a little colour lifter to create that pop of colour and stay true to my inspiration. I adhered the base to the card and poopedthe circle on dimensionals to add to the effect. I finished with a sentiment from the Very Versailles stamp set on a strip of whisper white, layered onto a scrap of poppy parade card stock and some Rhinestone basic jewels (diamante!).
If you have the time its worth putting some more effort into the colouring and really blending the colours, but I was on a live so didn’t want people to watch me colouring for an hour!! So apologies for the slightly rough edges!!
Here is the other card we made which will be covered in tomorrows blog post. As you can see this is a great card to showcase the stamp set and could be made in so many different colours.
Voila!
I had great fun making this project and I would love to know what you think? So please do leave me a comment.
